Please print off as many of our latest TPA-UK poster as you can and distribute these to your doctor’s surgery, your local hospital, slimming clubs, library and anywhere else you can find where the general public are likely to see it.
The following idea originated from Jenny Freeman in Australia. She is a member of our TPA-UK Internet Forum.
Thyroid Awareness Week
For each of us who feel they can donate a thyroid information book to your own local library, you would be helping potentially hundreds of other sufferers.
This would be at minimum cost to each of us but cover a great area. The media coverage would be very beneficial highlighting thyroid concerns and helping direct those without Internet access to help, as would a printed donation notice in front of the book for readers to access their library Internet resource to our website and learn more.
The books would be reread many times.
Perhaps those interested could respond. If we do this we can make a difference - and if we all do this in during October during Thyroid Awareness Week - we may have media coverage for maximum exposure.
Jenny has also written a suggested donation notice to be pasted in the book as well as a suggested media release, which could also be printed and sent to your local newspapers.

MEDIA RELEASE
During the October National Thyroid Awareness week, thyroid sufferers around the world are donating selected books to their local library to assist other thyroid sufferers in learning more about their illness.
Many women and men currently striving to overcome thyroid disease or researching a suspected illness meet up on our support forum, sharing their experiences whilst helping and supporting fellow sufferers.
Realising that not everyone has access to the internet or are not comfortable using a computer, some members of the internet forum believe that by donating recommended books, which have personally helped them, to their local area library, they can help others in a practical way.
The idea is for those wishing to participate, go to your local bookstore, buy the book of your choice, stick the donation note inside and hand it to the librarian at your local library.
OR
Order a book online, paste the donation note inside, and drop off at your local library.
The nominated books for donation so far are:
